Cypriot cartoonist Alper Susuzlu has passed away.

Alper Susuzlu, one of the prominent figures of Turkish Cypriot cartoon art, has passed away. Susuzlu’s death has been met with deep sorrow in the Turkish Cypriot art community and the international cartoon world.
A founding member and the first Secretary General of the Turkish Cypriot Cartoonists Association, Alper Susuzlu was a versatile artist who gained international recognition with his distinctive drawing style. In addition to cartoons, he continued producing works in painting and theatre for many years, courageously addressing social issues through his art.
In a statement issued by the Association, it was emphasized that Susuzlu made significant contributions to the Turkish Cypriot community and the Turkish Cypriot leftist movement through both his political stance and his artistic production. The statement also noted that, despite all the threats he faced, he fought resolutely for a lasting solution to the Cyprus Problem and for the communities living on the island to be able to live together again in peace.
The statement concluded with the words: “Although Alper Susuzlu has physically left us, he will continue to live on through the enduring works he has left behind.”

عضو مؤسس وأول أمين عام لرابطة رسامي الكاريكاتير القبارصة الأتراك، ألبر سوسوزلو كان فنانًا متعدد المواهب.. نال اعترافًا دوليًا بأسلوبه المميز في الرسم. بالإضافة إلى الرسوم المتحركة، واصل إنتاج أعمال الرسم والمسرح لسنوات عديدة، معالجًا بشجاعة القضايا الاجتماعية من خلال فنه.
تم التأكيد في بيان صادر عن الرابطة على أن سوسوزلو قدم مساهمات كبيرة للطالية القبرصية التركية والحركة اليسارية القبرصية الأتراك من خلال مواقفه السياسية وإنتاجه الفني. ولاحظ البيان أيضا أنه على الرغم من كل التهديدات التي واجهها، كافح بحزم من أجل حل دائم للمشكلة القبرصية ولكي تتمكن المجتمعات التي تعيش في الجزيرة من العيش معا مرة أخرى في سلام.
