19th Daejeon International Cartoon Contest (DICACO)

The Daejeon City is inviting world cartoonists to take part in the 19th Daejeon International Cartoon Contest (DICACO).

1.This year's contest comprises a Thema section (titled Oddity - Monster) and a Free section.
2.The size of works should be smaller than 297 mm Ч 420 mm.
3.Any color, free style, and unlimited items. (+2 Works)
4.Each entrant should provide title, name, age, address, e-mail, telephone number, and career on reverse.

5.The deadline for entry is Jun. 30, 2010.

6.Entries should be addressed to the Daejeon International Cartoon Institute,
450, Wolpyongdong, Daejeon, Seoul, KOREA 302-280.
7.The most creative cartoon will win the Grand Prix prize of $3,000, Gold prize of $1,000, Silver prize of $500, Bronze prize of $300, and 300 Selected works will be awarded.
8.Exhibit the cartoons at the Daejeon Public Gallery in Aug. 2010.
9.Submitted cartoons will not be returned, but exhibited forever in Korean public halls, galleries & museums.
10.Your cartoon may be used for promotional purposes: cards, posters, catalogs, newspaper, magazine, and books, etc.

1.  Participation
 
All contestants will be admitted with no distinction made regarding nationality or age. There are two categories:
• Youth category up to 15 years inclusive;
• Adult category: 16 years and older.
Both professional and non-professional cartoonists are allowed to participate in this contest.
 
2.  Theme
 
The main theme is "Body Art - Body Talk - Body Language". Also this year Amnesty International offers a special prize to

the best cartoon with theme ‘being poor though having the right for a home’.
 
3.  Entries
 
• Original cartoons in black and white or colour, may bear no captions.
• Dimensions including any passe-partout 21 x 30 cm (A4).
• Works sent rolled and works larger than DIN A4 will not be returned. The cartoons should be appropriately wrapped before sending in order to prevent damage.
• Number of entries per contestant: maximum five.
• Following data should be mentioned on the back of your work: name, adress, age and theme.
 
4.  Property rights
 
Prize-winning works will become the property of the organizer or the major sponsors. All works selected may be used by

the organizers to promote the contest and the village of Olen.
 
5.  Evaluation
 
Decisions made by the jury cannot be challenged.

6. Catalogue/Cartoon book
 
Selected works will be considered for inclusion in a catalogue. The authors of these works will receive a free copy of

the catalogue during the prize ceremony or it will be send afterwards by mail.
 
7.  Return mail
 
Return of the cartoons happens only on explicit request of the participant, as mentioned in the entry form. Every cartoon

meeting with the demands but which is not selected for a prize will be sent back within two years. The organizers will endeavour

to handle the return forwardings with the utmost care but cannot be held responsible for loss or damages.

9. Prizes

5th prize: 150 euro

Special prize of "being poor though having the right for a home": 400 euro.

Only for Belgian participants: Prize of the province of Antwerp: week-end (youth and adult category)
 
10.  Prize Ceremony and Exhibition
 
The prize ceremony will take place at Friday 12 November 2010 at approximately 20.00 h in the council room of the town hall of Olen,

Dorp 1, 2250 Olen. Every participating artist will be welcome on that occasion. Only the winners are peronally invited.
