Double Victory for Bulgarian Artist Dilyana Nikolova at the International Cartoon Biennale! 🏆🏆
and it brought historic success for Bulgarian artist Dilyana Nikolova, who received two prestigious awards.
🗣️ “This is a precedent. For the first time, a participant has been awarded both the Master’s Statuette and the Special Prize from our co-organizers at the Higher School of Agribusiness and Regional Development,” said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Angel Yankov, chairman of the jury and director of the museum. “Ms. Nikolova truly proved herself to be a real #master.”
🏅 Other award-winning artists include:
Raed Khalil (Syria)
Fan Lintao (China)
Mikhail Zlatkovsky (Russia)
Vladimir Pavlik (Slovakia)
Their works will become part of the museum’s cultural heritage collection.
🧑‍🎨 A brand new honorary title was also introduced this year – “Bash Master”, awarded to beloved Plovdiv-based cartoonist Iren Trendafilov, who shared:
“It’s a great honor, especially since colleagues and friends have long called me the Bash Master.”
He will also present a solo exhibition at the museum in 2026.
🌍 The Biennale drew over 200 cartoon submissions from 71 artists across 4 continents, proving its growing global reputation.
🖼️ The special exhibition, themed “Wine and Love. Love and Wine”, will remain open until the end of October at the Regional Ethnographic Museum – Plovdiv.
