OPENING OF THE CARTOON EXHIBITION BY LUKA LAGATOR AND DARKO DRLJEVIĆ
On Friday, June 27, 2025, at 7:30 PM, an exhibition of caricatures by two Montenegrin artists – Luka Lagator and Darko Drljević – will be opened at the MMC Gallery.
Luka Lagator was born in 1945 in Cetinje. Member of the Association of Fine Artists of Montenegro since 1978. Member of the Association of Cartoonists of Montenegro since its establishment – 1996.
He has lived and worked in numerous art colonies in the country and abroad. So far, he has had 30 solo exhibitions of paintings and 32 solo exhibitions of cartoons. The comics he creates are newspaper comics.
He has published around 6,000 works in various newspapers and magazines, as well as several separate editions dedicated to cartoons and comics.
He is best known to the domestic and international public for his competitive caricature, where he is among the top 50 in the world who have ever done it, and has won around 150 regional and world awards. He is also the winner of the highest state award in Montenegro, the “Thirteenth of July Award”, the “Ivan Crnojević” Charter, and has the status of a prominent cultural creator of Montenegro.
Darko Drljević was born in 1962 in Kolašin. He has been a freelance artist since 1997.
He is the president of the Cartoonists’ Association of Montenegro . So far, he has won 277 awards at international competitions. He has had 65 solo and more than 500 collective exhibitions. He has participated in many painting colonies, as well as cartoon colonies.
He is included in the world anthology “Famous World Caricaturists”.
He is the founder and editor-in-chief of the humor magazine “Tuš” and the organizer of the International Caricature Festival in Kolašin.
He works in painting, illustration, graphics, textbook illustration, as well as animated films.
He has worked for many Montenegrin and regional daily newspapers. He currently works as a caricaturist-commentator on the RTCG portal.
The exhibition will be opened by Muhamed Đerlek Max.
