POPA’S – The pandemic goes on, the satirical arts gain speed and take off in the virtual celebrating the 9th Edition of The International Salon of Press Cartoons and Satirical Visual Arts

Autumn in Timisoara is colored by satire and laughs more heartily with the organization of the International Salon of Press Cartoons and Satirical Visual Arts, now arrived at it’s 9th Edition. Being used to the title of Worldwide Capital of The Satire once a year, in 2021 we want to bring the joy of satitical visual arts to the whole world. This edition will also be fully accessible virtually : between October 15th – November 15th you will be able to visit the International Salon 2021 3D virtual gallery wherever you are on the globe.

Online Vernissage: October 15th, 16h00 (RO), during the opening the President of the Jury Antonio Calderon de Jesus will annouce the 4 Excellence Award Winners during the live broadcast on facebook Stefan Popa Popa’S. Guests from all over the world, renowned personalities from the artistic world and many more, friends of the International Salon, will speak about the purpose of the satirical arts in the world and the artist’s vision about the future, the digitalisation of art, whereto trends all this?

Precisely, Stefan Popa POPA’S bets on the impact of satrirical arts in a digital world and centers the cherry on the top of the digitisation cake: he launches the series of cartoons “The NATO Presidents” as a collection of digital unique value postmarks or NFTs. This is a breathtaking subject in the era of blockchain and liberalisation of global value transfer systems, that’s true. Nevertheless at their core stands the same Ace, the “AS” from POPA’S.

77 countries, 6 continents, 560 artists in contest, 295 hors concours, therefore 855 artworks in total will be exposed in the generous 1700 square metres of Theresia Bastion in Timisoara, 4, Martin Luther Street. The international salon exhibition surprises each time by its amplitude and its diversity, open between Oct 15th – Nov 10th from 10h00 to 18h00.  

Many thanks to our historical partners the National Museum of Banat in partnership with the Popa’S Foundation, the Timis County Council and the Romanian Plastic Artists Union for facilitating the yearly organisation of the International Salon.
